Bumthang Valley Cultural Trek (14 Days)
Day 1 - Arrival at Paro
Arrive at Paro Airport. You will be received by representative of Barma Tours & Treks Co. and transferred to your Hotel in Paro.
Day 2 - Paro Valley Sightseeing
After breakfast drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong. Along the way, one can view the sacred Mount Jhomolhari (7,314m). Visit a typical Bhutanese farmhouse to experience the daily life of the local farmer. After lunch, visit Museum and stroll through Paro Town for shopping souvenirs.
Day 3 - Hike to Paro Taktshang (Tiger’s Den)
Perched on 1000 meter sheer rock cliff, this is one of the tourists hotspots of the Himalayas. Taktshang or Tiger’s Den, you would have to make a day long hike with pack Lunch picnic and water.
In the evening, drive to Thimphu. Halt at Hotel in Thimphu.
Day 4 - Thimphu Sightseeing
After breakfast head for Thimphu. In Thimphu sightseeing will include Zilukha Nunnery, National Library, Handicrafts Emporium, Memorial Chorten, Textile Museum, Handmade paper factory. Stroll the Thimphu streets in the evening to shop or just window shop.
Day 5 - Thimphu to Trongsa
After breakfast, head for Trongsa. Enroute, stop at Dochula for view of the Himalayan peaks, and lunch at Chendibji chorten (stupa). After lunch, continue the journey to Trongsa which takes 8 hours.
Overnight halt at hotel in Trongsa.
Day 6 - Trongsa to Bumthang Jakar
After breakfast, sightseeing of Trongsa Dzong from outside, and then visit the Ta Dzong (watch tower). Take a stroll through Trongsa town. Drive to scenic spots.
After Lunch at Trongsa, drive to Bumthang valley (3 hours drive). You can catch a glimpse of Jakar or “Castle of White Bird” on the way.
Night halt at hotel in Bumthang.
Day 7 - Bumthang Halt
Walk in and around Bumthang valley. Visit the diary farm, cheese factory and apple juice factory. Visit Jalikha village, and Honey bee keeping association.
Overnight at Hotel in Bumthang
Day 8 - Bumthang Jakar to Ngang Lhakhang
The trek starts today with a 14 Km stretch. Following the Chamkhar River, the trail will lead to Ngang Yul or Swan Land. Lunch at Thangbi Lhakhang. There is a temple built here in the valley called Ngang Lhakhang meaning temple of the Swan. Overnight in Camp.
Day 9 - Ngang lhakhang to Sa Serbo
Climb gradually to Phephela Pass (3630 meters), the highest point on the trek trail. The descent gives way to one of the most beautiful forested valley in Bhutan. Camp at pastureland.
Day 10 - Sa Serbo to Ugyen Choelling
12 Km trail would ascend through dwarf bamboo, hemlock and alpine shrub forests. The trek would pass by Ta Hung Village and Ugyenchoeling Palace, built by Saint Philosopher, Longchen Rabjampa in 14th Century. Camping in the area. Altitude 2820 meters.
Day 11 - Ugyen Choeling to Jakar
The trail will take you along Tang Chu river. It is full of trout. (If you like fishing, we would arrange fishing permit for you from Forest Department.) Pass through Tang valley and Tang Rinmochen Lhakhang. On the way, visit Mebartsho “Flaming Lake” where saint discovered hidden treasures. Vehicle would pick you up at Pangshing. Halt at Hotel in Jakar.
Day 12 - Jakar to Wangdue
Proceed to Wangdue after breakfast. Lunch at Wangdue/Trongsa. Visit Punakha Dzong and Wangdue dzong. Night Halt at hotel in Wangdue.
Day 13 - Wangdue to Paro
Proceed to Paro. Lunch Thimphu. Take a stroll through Thimphu before heading to Paro. Night halt at Paro.
Day14 - Departure from Bhutan
After early breakfast, drive to Paro airport for your departure from Bhutan.
